Decrease Lottery Odds, Allow More Winners

I have a question for you on the size of Lottery Jackpots and the winning odds? I live in the San Francisco area, of California. Is there a reason why they don't decrease the lottery odds to allow more people to win?

Even if it were smaller jackpots. I would think that it would help fuel the damaged economy. People who won would buy material goods that they were not able to afford before.

Also, there is much written about the types of people that tend to play lottos. That the people who tend to play are those in the poorer classes. I have to say that I think that's not really true.

The winners (the one's that are publicised) in the California lotteries (California Super Lotto, Mega Millions) tend to be people who are already living comfortably, who own their own homes, etc. Such as retired and already comfortable, middle-class folk. I suppose they can afford to buy more tickets!

Why don’t the lottery companies decrease the odds on the mega jackpots so more people win, in two words “The Dream”. If some of these mega jackpots had reduced odds so more people won then less would play because most people play them hoping for the mega-jackpot win.
